Step 1: This costume set was very plain, but could be modeled to fit what I needed. Take off the cross on the chest and lay out newspapers for painting. Dump some acrylic paint onto a Styrofoam plate, moisten your sponge, and wring it out well. Dab the sponge into the paint and dab it on the paper a couple times. Now dab it on the shield you are painting and cover about 1/4 of the area. Next take your ratty rag and brush the surface of the shield, lifting off some of the paint. This will give it a more authentic look and give it a false color depth. Do the rest of the shield a couple times or until it looks like you want it to. Now do the rest of the armor. In the image the shield on the right shows the previous color.Step 2: ![]() Take your PVC pipes and cut them to these lengths:
Now assemble as shown in picture.
Step 3: Take your sweatshirt, place it over the frame, and then stuff it to look natural. Attach the vest and wire the shield on. Now take a glove and stuff it a little. Wrap it around the sword then staple it together or sew it together to make it hold the sword. Now attach that to the extended arm of the frame. Step 4: Using belts or metal strapping hang the frame up to your tree tightly. Now put the belt on him and hand the sword sheath from that. Put the cape on him and press it around the tree to hide how he connects to the tree and to make him look like he's coming out of it. Fix up the collar to make him look headless and tada! A Headless Horseman coming from your tree.
